What Can a Junk Removal Company Take? (And the 3 Things We Can't)

Every week someone starts a call with “this is probably a weird one, but do you take…” — and the answer is almost always yes. So here's the complete rundown of what we haul, the short list of what we can't, and what actually happens to your stuff after it leaves your driveway.

What we take

If two people can carry it (or our skid steer can lift it), it goes on the truck:

• Furniture — couches, mattresses, dressers, desks, that futon from college
• Appliances — fridges, washers, dryers, stoves, water heaters
• Electronics — TVs, computers, printers, tangled boxes of cables
• Yard waste — brush, branches, old fencing, playsets, above-ground pools
• Construction debris — lumber, drywall, shingles, tile, cabinets
• Whole structures — sheds are our specialty, torn down and hauled in one visit
• Entire properties — estate cleanouts, hoarding situations, rentals between tenants, storefronts

And no, you don't need to bring anything to the curb. Basements, attics, and second floors are part of the job.

The 3 things we can't take

• Paint
• Gasoline
• Oil

Hazardous liquids need a licensed disposal facility — it's the law, not a preference. Rhode Island Resource Recovery runs Eco-Depot collection events for exactly this stuff. One more honest note: we haul junk away, we don't move it to your new place. We're not a moving company, and pretending to be one ends badly for everyone's furniture.

Where your junk actually goes

The landfill is the last stop, not the first. When we sort a load, usable furniture, appliances, and household goods get dropped at local donation centers. Metal gets recycled. What's genuinely junk gets disposed of properly. The photo at the top of this post is our truck at a donation center — it's a regular stop on our routes.
